I admit I avoided painting rocks of any size or shape when I encountered them in the landscape. You could say, “I was scared of them.” I would leave them out because I didn't know where to start.
Through many attempts, I learned that by identifying their shared shapes - round, oval, pointed, flat - drawing and painting became much easier. The idea that it was "easy" gave me the motivation to keep going.
So, I set out to explore all types of landscapes with rock formations, taking my trusty Jeep and two faithful shepherds along for the adventure. Our travels led us to multiple destinations where I painted rocks so I could share with you all the necessary ingredients for success!

I've spent countless hours painting rocks from life, perfecting my method to share with you - although, for this video, you'll have a front-row seat as I paint from my studio.
